HCSO Deputies Exposed to Unknown Substance during Search of Spring Hill Residence

On 8-30-18 at approximately 7 p.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 7031 Holiday Drive in Spring Hill in an attempt to serve a felony warrant.

Deputies encountered two individuals at the house who gave deputies permission to search the residence.

Once inside, deputies were exposed to an unknown substance in the air and immediately exited the residence.

The two individuals found inside the residence were detained by law enforcement.
Deputies were unable to locate the wanted person inside the residence.

Upon exiting the residence five of the deputies became lightheaded.

Hernando County Fire Rescue personnel treated all five deputies at the scene. EMS also treated the two individuals found inside the house who were experiencing similar symptoms.

The Hernando County HAZMAT Team was called in to evaluate the scene and identify the unknown substance.
