No. 1 Nature Coast (8-0, 4-0): Wins have come in the bunches for Nature Coast and heading into the break, they spared no one. The Sharks have now run off right wins in a row, with victories in the last three coming against Springstead, Central and Academy at the Lakes. They start off their annual holiday tournament against Tampa Jefferson.
No. 2 Springstead (4-4, 1-1): These Eagles have been inconsistent at best through eight games and as evident of their past two contests before the break. Springstead was able to cruise to a 67-19 throttling of Weeki Wachee before being upended by Nature Coast. Next time the Eagles take the court will be in the Greg O’Connell’s Shootout to begin the year.
No. 3 Hernando (4-5, 2-1): Talk about a turnaround? After starting the 2018-2019 season off to a rough 1-5 start, the Leopards have put themselves in position to reach the .500 mark just before the new year. Wins coming against Lecanto, New Port Richey Gulf and Weeki Wachee are just what the doctor ordered.
No. 4 Central (3-6, 0-1): After a win against Weeki Wachee, something many around the county have been able to do, the Bears went on a bit of a slide before the break. The win over the Hornets was followed up by losses to Crystal River, Bishop McLaughlin and Nature Coast. Bears are on the court again on New Year’s in the Glory Days tournament at Springstead.
No. 5 Weeki Wachee (0-9, 0-0): It’s been a very rough go of it for Weeki Wachee and through nine games, the Hornets are still in search of their first win. The team’s closest chance to date was a 48-33 loss to rival Hernando.
