A new bill would allocate more than $100,000 to support the Mid Florida Community Services (MFCS), Inc. Veteran Ride Program.

Headquartered in Brooksville, MFCS operates Trans Hernando, the County’s designated Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) to provide affordable transportation services for the elderly, physically/mentally challenged, and economically/transportation disadvantaged residents of the County.

For $5 each way the program provides door-to-door transportation to doctors’ offices, as well as to shopping facilities. Trips to banks, hairdressers, hospital/nursing homes, and other destinations are provided when seating is available.

The Veteran Ride program offers a reduced fare of $1 each way to veterans and their families.

Filed on Dec. 28 by Rep. Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill) HB 9201 appropriates $150,000 in non-recurring General Revenue Funds to the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs to support the MFCS Veterans Ride Program.
