Sgt. Steve Gaskins, public information officer (PIO) for the Florida Highway Patrol said that just before 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 13, a 25-year-old man was driving an SUV westbound on Elgin Boulevard, east of Fenian Drive, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

As a result, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole on the north shoulder.
