On Saturday March 26, the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce held its fourth annual Home & Garden Show. The event took place on the grounds of Crosspoint Church on Anderson Snow Road in Spring Hill, as well as inside its new building.

More than forty businesses, organizations, and individuals participated in the show. They ran the gamut; From food trucks selling all kinds of edibles and tree care services to political candidates and the Sheriff Youth Ranch’s thrift store. Rich Sanvenero with Big Daddy DJ Services provided the entertainment and kept everyone informed about what was going on.

The chamber, of course, had a booth at the entrance where there were brochures for potential members to pick up. Something new this year was a scavenger hunt. People took a paper with the names of all the vendors on it and a space to write their name. When the people visited each booth, they received a stamp on their paper. After visiting every booth, they deposited their papers in a box. At the end of the event, a name was drawn and the winner received a gift basket.

Jennifer Monaco, senior administrative specialist, stated, “Vendors liked the scavenger hunt because it brought people to their booths. Many said they got leads. One said he got eight leads.”

Discount Garage Doors, Inc. (DGD) was one of the companies at the show. DGD has been in business for more than twenty years. Tavis Hagadon, a door specialist with the company, has been with them for eleven years. According to Hagadon, they can fulfill an order in one to three weeks if the door is in stock. If they have to order the door it may take three to four months. Once they start the job it only takes a half day to install it.

Another company represented at the show was Massey Services. The privately owned company is located in nine states with 156 locations, including Brooksville, and has been in business for thirty-five years. Travis Powell, a general manager at the local office has been with the company for twenty-four years. Among the services the company offers is lawn care pest prevention, home pest prevention, weed eradication, and soil conditioning services. Their products are environmentally safe and do not affect humans or pets.

Salem Media Group was another participant in the event. They are the largest Christian broadcaster in the country and the largest conservative content broadcaster. Locally, they own AM 760 and FM 104.3. They own more than 2,000 affiliate networks that stream and broadcast Christian and conservative websites, along with GodTube (similar to YouTube), which shows Christian music videos, podcasts and inspirational videos. Other Christian stations will buy their syndicated news broadcast, SRN News.

Merry Brocket, executive sales director with Salem Media stated, “We have a streaming channel on television, Salemnow.com, which carries movies and documentaries.”

The following businesses were presenting sponsors: Citarella Termite & Pest Management, Comfort Control Air Conditioning & Heating, Crosspoint Church, Florida Garage Door Pros, Hits 106, Massey Services, Inc., and Renewal by Anderson Window & Door Replacement.

Approximately 300 people attended this year’s Home & Garden Show. Most went home with an ample supply of brochures on the various businesses. From comments by some of the people representing these businesses and organizations, this event was a worthwhile investment for them and a good use of their marketing budget.
