A 45-year-old Spring Hill man was killed Thursday night in a crash on State Road 589 after suffering a medical emergency, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. near the 42-mile marker when the driver of a southbound Nissan Sentra lost control, causing the vehicle to veer into the median and overturn.
According to FHP, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. His nine-year-old son, who was also in the car, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where the driver later succumbed to his injuries. The child is expected to recover.
