As of 10:51 a.m., Southbound I-75 remained closed with traffic diverted at SR-50 due to an early morning multi-vehicle crash, according to Sergeant Steve Gaskins with the Florida Highway Patrol.
This morning at 5:45 a.m., a Dodge Ram 3500 towing a trailer with pieces of sheet metal, metal tubing and ladders, driven by a 23-year-old man from Bainbridge, Georgia, was traveling southbound on I-75 at a low speed near the 294 Milepost. A Toyota Camry, driven by a 25-year-old Dade City woman, was traveling southbound on I-75 and collided with the rear of the trailer towed by Dodge Ram 3500 and its extended load. A tractor-trailer, driven by a 54-year-old Alachua man, was traveling southbound on I-75 and collided with the Toyota Camry. Following the collision with the Camry, the tractor-trailer traveled to the outside shoulder, struck a guardrail, and overturned. Drivers of the Dodge Ram 3500 and the tractor-trailer were not injured during the incident; however, the woman driving the Toyota Camry suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
