Archery Season 2019

It has sure taken long enough to get here, but archery season in our section of Florida, Zone C, as defined by the Florida Wildlife Commission has finally arrived!  To say I’m excited about opening morning is a huge understatement and I know that there are so many of you out there sharing my excitement. My inbox has filled up lately with requests for where to go and looking for tips and tactics to fill your tailgates and I’m mighty grateful to each of you who have taken the time to e-mail me.  I truly wish you all great success!

Hernando Christian Academy officially starts their 6-man football season

On Thursday night Sept. 5, Hernando Christian Academy held their first 6-man football game against Newberry Christian Community, and it was a glorious win for the Lions; 43-12.

There was an uncertainty of how the team would perform due to practice cancellations, but Coach Raley was pleasantly surprised by the team’s ability to pull it off.

HCA Volleyball still hungry for victory

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. --- The aspirations of visitors to elude Hernando Christian Academy of a victory-is a flirtation with disaster.  That's been true for most of HCA's season so far.  Heading into the game against Seven Rivers on Thursday Aug. 29, 2019 after beating Meadowbrook on Tuesday (3-1) their record was 4 and 0.  For Seven Rivers though, disaster did not strike in the Lions' Den.

Weeki Wachee’s Jack Hurst led the Hornets with a two-over 38 win during the tri-match with Springstead and Hernando High at Hernando Oaks in Brooksville Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Hurst along with Springstead’s Jake Miller and Hernando’s Pierson Miller teed off on hole 3, followed by Nick Lucus (Weeki Wachee), Ben Keister (Springstead) and Zak Thomson (Hernando).

The tri-match ending results: Weeki Wachee 189, Hernando 190, and Springstead 202.

Week 3 Hernando County Prep Football Previews & Performers

The regular season for prep football in Hernando County heads into Week 3 action and Week 2 brought upon some surprises. Nature Coast was shut out by South Sumter 33-0 and Central is off to a 2-0 start. All five of Hernando County’s squads will be back in action this week and teams will be 30 percent through the season after this Friday. We take a closer look at all of the Week 3 regular season matchups on tap for Friday night.

BROOKSVILLE- It seems like year after year, someone from Hernando County ends up leading the area in rushing. From the likes of DuJuan Harris to Matt Brieda to DeShawn Smith to Tevin Drake and last year’s Mike Weston, there has been no shortage of great running backs to come out of the county.
