A review of legislation impacting Brooksville & Hernando County

(STAFF)

“Things aren’t as bad as when I was here last time. It was a tough session,” said Shawn Foster of Sunrise Consulting Group to the Brooksville City Council on May 15th.

Foster continued, “it was the most onslaught attack that I’d ever seen on local rule in 20 years as staff or as a lobbyist. I think it’ll be back… The leadership that was there, they’ll still be there next year and they’ll still be in charge.”

Motorcyclists: Steer clear of aggressive drivers

Matthew Dolman

Aggressive drivers are dangerous, and they pose a serious threat to all other drivers on Florida roadways – especially moped and motorcycle operators and passengers.

When aggressive drivers collide with mopeds or motorcycles, serious and catastrophic injuries may result. This is because motorcycle operators and passengers are directly exposed to the ground and to everything else around them.

Goals for the Summer

My goal is to learn more things about gymnastics so I can go to gymnastics.

Also I am looking forward to go to my great grandmother house for one or two weeks and
she lives in Boone. I would also I like to finish my book. I would like to work at school.

What are your goals for the summer?

My Goals for the Summer

Age: 12
There are so many things I want to do over the summer. I would like to get a quarter way through the 8/7 math book. This summer I would like like to improve my swimming skills. Also I am keen to read as many books as I can. When I go up north to my grandmother’s I would like to run up her mountain in record breaking time. Besides that I would also like to make the largest mud pie. I would like to improve in my typing skills so I can be a better typist and so I can type faster. I hope I can reach all my goals this summer.

I spoke with the Executive Director of the Dawn Center, Shannon Sokolowski recently about about new additions and programs coming to the center. The new additions include facilities for dogs and cats, a financial literacy program and a pro bono attorney designated for Hernando County victims of domestic violence. The owners of the Brooksville Florist building in downtown Brooksville have donated the property to the Dawn Center to use as their legal services office.

NOTE: Hernando High graduates Bronson Arroyo (Class of 1995) and Christian Arroyo (Class of 2013) aren’t related, but they’re both playing Major League Baseball this summer. Hernando Sun will track their progress weekly throughout the next few months.

After a solid start to his big-league career playing third base for the San Francisco Giants, the rookie Christian Arroyo has had a tough go of it in May, hitting .180 with a home run and 10 runs batted in over 89 at-bats.

If you're a seafood lover there's little that can compare to fresh, salty, delicacies handpicked at your local seafood market.

The Trader Bay Seafood Company, located on Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach, is one of those local seafood markets and has been in business for over 18 years. The popular market lures in hungry fish devotees every day and has been serving up fresh fish, smoked fish and shellfish for years.
