When playing baseball, whether for the first time or later in life, young individuals are taught the basics of the game: how to swing a bat, catch a fly ball, and run the bases. The same goes for historic Tom Varn Park in downtown Brooksville, which has been a staple of our community’s athletics, recreational or competitive at the interscholastic level. And on a crisp Sunday afternoon, the park would write another chapter in its legacy.

Springstead's track team at the FSU Relays

With baseball and softball reigning supreme around the area, track and field is another sport that produces several standouts throughout Hernando County annually.

While softball and baseball are performing, the Eagles’ boys and girls track & field teams have done an exceptional job this spring as well. Springstead made the long trip up to northern Florida and made their way up to Tallahassee last weekend to represent the school at the FSU Relays.
