Post Chaplain Awarded Kentucky Colonel Status

Chaplain Edward Anthony Nostadt received his commission Friday March 30, 2018 at VFW Post 9236 Hernando Beach from retired Colonel Nicholas Morana.  Mr. Nostadt has been a member of Post 9236 for a period of 12 months, but has been a lifetime member of the VFW organization for more than 50 years. He also holds membership in American Legion Post 223 in Sykesville Maryland, Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 142 in Frederick Maryland.  Mr.

Springstead High School students and staff organizing walk-a-thon, scholarship in memory of teacher

Students and staff members who knew Maria Rybka are working to make her proud and keep her memory alive.

“Maria Rybka was the embodiment of love and care for so many students in Hernando County for many years. She was a teacher and administrator in Hernando for years before she passed away quickly from cancer this past fall,” explains Tori Selby, Springstead Beta Club Sponsor and Social Studies teacher. 

Bleacher Talk, Play by Play: Softball District 6A-6 Championship Game

The bleachers are filled to capacity on April 27, 2018 at the Stead. Fans are eager to see the 6A-6 District Softball Championship game between Springstead Eagles and Crystal River Pirates.  Both teams came to battle it out for the win.

Pitcher for the Stead is Sr. Kayla Cruz and behind home plate is catcher Paige Pfent. A duo to be reckoned with.  Let's Play Ball!!

Local Citizens Beautify Brooksville

To celebrate Earth Day, which officially takes place on April 22, local citizens gathered in Brooksville on Saturday, April 21, 2018 to clean up the downtown area. Members of the Brooksville Women's Club, Brooksville Main Street, Brooksville Wesleyan Church, the Brooksville Garden Club and the City of Brooksville Beautification Board were among the groups that participated.  


BGC Dontation and Earth Day

On April 11, at their annual Picnic Meeting, Brooksville Garden Club’s Membership presented their yearly donation to the BGC/Pasco Hernando State College Endowment Fund. Since its inception in 1990, monies raised in the club’s recent plant sale (thank you residents for supporting our endeavor on March 10th) enables students to continue their studies in conservation and environment protection.  Donations go into their BOOK STORE account. BGC President, Jan Gathje, is presenting check to Robin Springstead, BGC/PHSC Endowment Plant Sale Coordinator.
