On Friday June 8, 2018 Hernando Sun attended the Boys2Men Awards Banquet, held at the Women's Club on Main Street in Downtown Brooksville. Ms. Kimberly Kincade and Ms. Sherri Collins, born and raised in Hernando County and have strong ties in the community. They came together five years ago and started Boys2Men Foundation Incorporation nonprofit. Boys2Men is a youth football and cheer camp.

I love to write (and talk) and all who know me will agree that I am not a man of few words. As a windy minister, it only seems logical that I would be involved in the world of communication. For the last few years I’ve been writing “Living on purpose” and it’s truly been a pleasure. I just want to say that I sincerely appreciate all of you that take the time to read the column and the many thoughtful and encouraging emails that I receive each week. I’ve been writing sermons, articles and music for a long time which eventually branched into a weekly blog.

Keeping Your Crape Myrtles Pest Free

Crape myrtles are one of the best plants to incorporate into your landscape. We often refer to these plants as the “Lilacs of the South.” Crape myrtles come in all shapes and sizes. You can select one that matures to a height of four feet or one that may grow to 25 feet. Flowers vary in hues of pink, white and red. When established, crape myrtles require very little maintenance. However, sometimes you may see leaves turning black.
