County Commissioner Candidates on Economic Development

Several county commissioner candidates mentioned economic development as a core issue facing the county.  As a follow-up we asked them to expand on their ideas for economic development, describe what they consider that to be and what a strong economic development plan looks like.  Each candidate was given up to 275 words for their response.

Fatal Overnight Hernando County Crash 7/30/2020 Harrow Road

On 7/30/2020 at 11:34 PM a 45-year-old female driver from Spring Hill, driving a sedan, was traveling southbound on Harrow Road approaching the intersection of Norbert Street. The driver failed to stop for a posted stop sign, struck a dip in the roadway, became airborne, landed, then rotated onto the east shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the sedan continued to rotate while colliding with a mailbox, street sign and power pole. The vehicle continued across Elk Lane into the front yard of 3208 Elk Lane, overturned, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

HCSO and Other Groups Distribute Free Backpacks

Long lines are getting to be the norm all over the United States nowadays. Whether it’s to be tested for Covid-19 or to receive free food, people are learning the virtue of patience as they sit in their cars in 90º weather to receive free goods and services during this pandemic. Saturday, July 25, unaware travelers on California Street in Brooksville encountered a back-up of cars and sheriff’s deputies directing traffic. The reason – a free backpack giveaway at Nature Coast Technical High School.
