Firefighters extinguish fire at Explorer K-8

UPDATE: (Brooksville, FL) Hernando County Fire Rescue and Hernando Schools continue to work together in response to a fire that occurred at Explorer K-8. No students were injured. One school resource officer and one faculty member were treated for smoke inhalation. The building has been cleared and students can return to class. If desired, parents may pick up their children through the normal after school pickup line. A mobile check out station is available at the front of the school. Please be patient as the pickup line will be long.

ORIGINAL: (Brooksville, FL) Hernando County Fire Rescue is on scene of a fire that occurred in a bathroom at Explorer K-8 located at 10252 Northcliffe Boulevard in Spring Hill. The school was evacuated, and the fire was extinguished. There are no students injured. One school resource officer and one faculty member are being treated and transported for minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters continue to ventilate heavy smoke from the building.
