Hernando author recounts parents’ Holocaust and Atomic Bomb survival at Brooksville 1st UMC

Roslyn Franken will deliver a multimedia presentation of her book about her parents’ unlikely survival, love and triumph over tragedy entitled, Meant to Be: A True Story of Might, Miracles and Triumph of the Human Spirit, at the Brooksville First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 6:30pm located at 109 S. Broad St., Brooksville, FL 34601. Roslyn will be available for book signing following the presentation. This event is free of charge and open to the public.

In her heartfelt and engaging speaking style, Roslyn Franken will reveal the unforgettable true story of how her parents, John and Sonja Franken, two unlikely survivors of WWII, survive unimaginable cruelty on opposite sides of the world in the most extraordinary of circumstances and meet to find everlasting love against all odds – John survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb as a Prisoner of War in Japan, while Sonja survived the concentration camps in Nazi Europe, including the horrors of  Auschwitz. As a proud cancer survivor at 29, Roslyn also shares how she was able to draw on her parents’ strength and never give up attitude in her fight to survive. Her presentation culminates with messages filled the positive life lessons she learned from her parents as the daughter of survivors that we can all learn from to better our own lives and make our world a better place.

 Her parents’ story was the subject of a Gemini award-nominated CBC television documentary and her book, Meant to Be, has been adapted for production as a feature-length movie that is currently in development.

Roslyn Franken travels across North America telling her parents’ inspiring story to diverse audiences from schools to seniors, faith-based groups and community organizations to corporations, those fighting cancer and other groups.
