Operation Safe Surrender postponed

Due to the possible effects of Hurricane Dorian, Operation Safe Surrender, which was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8, has been postponed. The program will be rescheduled at a later date.

Habitat for Humanity restore closure on Aug. 31 for Dorian

We at Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County want to make sure everyone stays safe during the upcoming Hurricane Dorian. In turn, our Brooksville and Spring Hill ReStores will be closed on Saturday, August 31st until further notice due to the uncertain nature of the hurricane.

Hernando County Public Schools Closed on Tues. Sept. 3

Hernando County School District will close all schools and district offices Tuesday, September 3rd. No changes are announced for Wednesday at this time. Further updates will be provided as the effect of Hurricane Dorian is better known.

County Schools. I wish to share with you that Hernando County schools and

district offices will remain closed Tuesday due to Hurricane Dorian.

Further updates from the school district will be shared with you by phone,

on the school district’s website, through our social media

have provided to your child’s school. I encourage you to stay tuned to

local news for additional weather updates and please stay safe everyone.

Saint Leo Cancellations

Saint Leo University is continuing to monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian and officials have made the decision to cancel classes at several locations.

Classes at University Campus and the East Pasco Education Center at University Campus and its New Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Brooksville locations at Pasco-Hernando State College offices now are canceled until Wednesday, September 4. The university anticipates holding classes on Thursday, September 5, but this date may change based on the storm forecast.

The following locations will not hold classes from Sunday, Sept. 1, through Wed, Sept. 4:

•           University Campus, 33701 State Road 52, St. Leo, FL; and

•           East Pasco Education Center at University Campus and at the New Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Brooksville locations of Pasco-Hernando State College.

These locations will not hold classes from Sunday, September 1, through Tues, Sept 3:

•           Tampa Education Center, 1120 E. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 238, Tampa, FL;

•           MacDill Education Center, 8102 Condor St., Albert B. Arrighi Education Center, 

Suite 116, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL; and, 

•           Lakeland Education Center, 315 Granada St., Lakeland, FL; and

•           Ocala Education Center, 1930 S.W. 38th Ave., Ocala, FL.

Students, faculty, and staff should check the Saint Leo University website athttps://www.saintleo.edu for updates, especially concerning classes on Thursday.

Saint Leo University will continue to monitor Hurricane Dorian and, if necessary, will issue closings at other teaching locations.

Saint Leo University Main Campus Classes Canceled Through Wednesday (Sept. 2 update)

ST. LEO, FL – Classes are canceled at Saint Leo University’s main campus through Wednesday, September 4. Also canceled are classes at the East Pasco Education Center (including those at the university’s Pasco-Hernando State College education offices) through Wednesday, September 4.

The university anticipates resuming all normal operations at University Campus on Wednesday, September 4, with the exception of classes, which will resume on Thursday, September 5.

USF System to close through Tuesday, Sept. 3

TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 30, 2019) – Based on the latest weather information regarding Hurricane Dorian, all three University of South Florida System campuses will close and classes are cancelled, effective 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, through at least Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Only USF System employees who are classified as essential personnel and/or those identified by their supervisors as vital to campus operations should report to work while campuses are closed.

University leadership will continue to monitor the storm over the weekend and assess the situation daily.  An update will be provided to the USF community on Sunday afternoon in regards to any possible closures beyond Tuesday, Sept. 3.  This information will be shared via usf.edu.

At this time, residence halls and dining facilities at USF Tampa and USF St Petersburg will remain open.

USF Health is cancelling clinical operations at all of its clinics and facilities on Tuesday, Sept. 3.  A decision will be made early next week regarding when clinical operations will reopen. Visit health.usf.edu for updates on how the storm may impact patient appointments.

The USF Football game vs. Wisconsin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 will be played as scheduled.

USF will activate a call center from noon – 8 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday.  Students, faculty, staff, parents or community members with questions regarding the status of university operations can contact (866) 601-6905.

 

USF System to reopen and resume classes on Wednesday, Sept. 4

TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2019) – The University of South Florida System announced today that all USF campuses and facilities will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 4.  Regular class schedules and normal business operations, including USF Health clinics and facilities, will resume on Wednesday. 

At this time, all USF campuses remain closed and all classes, including online courses, are cancelled on Tuesday, Sept. 3 due to Hurricane Dorian.

USF continues to constantly monitor the storm and assess the situation.  Should the projected path of the storm shift significantly to the west, USF will provide updated information regarding university operations to students, faculty and staff. 

The USF call center is open on Monday from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for anyone with questions about the status of campus operations.  The call center number is (866) 601-6905.

Several campus resources will be open on Tuesday, including the Marshall Student Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the USF Tampa Campus Recreation Center from 2 – 6 p.m., and the USF Tampa Library from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

The USF St. Petersburg Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, Student Life Center and Campus Recreation Center will open on Tuesday from 5 - 10 p.m.
