Lynda.com added to library offerings

Today’s job market requires continual learning. Many job listings require experience with the latest technology. It is often said, jovially, that the requirement is for candidates to have six years of experience in a technology that has only been out for three years. Huh? The point is maintaining in-demand skills requires constantly learning new skills.

There are many online tools that can help your skills remain up to date.  A popular way to learn is by watching online training videos. Youtube has many training videos with varying quality. Some can be quite informative and others are less so.

There are also subscription learning sites which have lessons that are professionally produced in which the presenters are paid rather than earning money through ads. One of these online learning sites is Lynda.com. Access to their training is $29.99 a month, but you can get access for free with your Hernando County Library card number and pin.

Lynda.com has a number of courses ranging for learning basic office programs like Powerpoint and Excel to learning advanced aspects of a programming language. If you are a business professional, they offer courses in QuickBooks. If you are into photography or design they offer courses in the Adobe Products.
