Post Chaplain Awarded Kentucky Colonel Status

Chaplain Edward Anthony Nostadt received his commission Friday March 30, 2018 at VFW Post 9236 Hernando Beach from retired Colonel Nicholas Morana.  Mr. Nostadt has been a member of Post 9236 for a period of 12 months, but has been a lifetime member of the VFW organization for more than 50 years. He also holds membership in American Legion Post 223 in Sykesville Maryland, Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 142 in Frederick Maryland.  Mr. Nostadt was drafted in Philadelphia, PA in 1954 and served until 1956 with US Army Headquarters of 17th group 286th Operation attached to 25th Division. He made the rank of Staff Sergeant during the course of his career. He returned to his native Pennsylvania, then Maryland, working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a General Foreman of Maintenance before retiring to Florida.
