“Can’t control the weather,” said PHSC Head Baseball Coach Lydon Coleman.

After competing in a three-game tournament in Tallahassee late January and one away game against Hillsborough, the Bobcats finally get a feel for the season at their first home game… well for at least two innings against Next Level Baseball Academy.

Back in Tallahassee, the team went against Tallahassee Community College, a Division I contender, which gave PHSC Freshman Jermaine White, Michael Haydak, Connor Berry, Andrew Karch, Sean Osceola, Andrew Pettit, Taylor Rohrer and Cameron Seiwert a perspective on competition.

“It was a great opportunity for our guys to get their feet wet,” Coleman said. “You’re going into one of the toughest athletic conferences in the country for junior college.”

Tallahassee Community College gave the guys a good challenge for the first two games. However, Bobcats left that field in Leon County grabbing the last game for a win. L 7-4, L 8-2,  W 5-3.

“They matured a lot,” Coleman said. “We learned a lot of things from a ball club and learned a lot of things we needed to get better at because of the trip.”

Current leading stats (as of 2/3/2019) for Division II: Sophomore Anthony Casso driving 2 home runs and currently tied with Tor Sehnert (Polk State College), Evan Johnson (Gulf Coast State College), Ray Sanchez (Palm Beach State College and Tim Dixon (Seminole State College of Florida) from Division I.  PHSC Sophomore Brayden Lyman leads the season for Division II in stolen bases (2).

“We have the pieces this year to have a very successful year, just the pieces of the puzzle have to come together,” Coleman said.

On Sunday PHSC traveled south to take on St. Petersburg State College and landed a victory; PHSC 10 – St. Pete 7
