“Show Me Your Trash”

World Water Monitoring Day will be celebrated on September 18th.  A local girl by the name of Emma Bolton has started a social media project called “Show Me Your Trash” to take place on September 18th in honor of World Water Monitoring Day.  The purpose of the project is to help clean up the environment and our waterways.   Under normal circumstances she would have loved to put together a live event but due to COVID she needs to think outside the box to obtain participation in this project. The project is simple, anyone can do it, and still practice social distancing.  All you need to do is pick up trash in your neighborhood, waterways, park, or any other public location and forward Emma your photos while doing so.  Those photos will be used in the video she will be putting together to show how water is tested.  The photos to include in the video need to be received by September 15th and can be uploaded on her Facebook page Emma’s Seeds of Kindness, or sent by email to [email protected].  The video will premiere on September 18th. Emma’s hope in doing the project and completing the video is to encourage other kids her age to get involved and make a difference even if it’s small.

This project is just one of many Emma has done.  She raised $2,100 for Metropolitan Ministries, collected food and clothes for the needed, raised money for a wheelchair for a disabled South Florida child, and many other projects.  You can follow her on her Facebook page Emma’s Seeds of Kindness and get involved in any future projects she does.  The video for the “Show Me Your Trash” project will be uploaded to her page on the 18th.

Since water is necessary for every form of life to survive, World Water Monitoring Day was created to educate people on water and encourage them to get involved in protecting our water. If you’d like to know more visit the World Water Monitoring Challenge website, www.monitorwater.org
