Suspect charged in fatal hit and run

A Brooksville man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after the vehicle he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian in Pasco County.

According to Sgt. Steve Gaskins, public information office (PIO) for the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) in the early morning hours of June 10, Henry Andres Gallo, 28 of Brooksville was driving a white pickup truck northbound in the outside lane of US-19 near the intersection of Krag Dr. in Pasco County when he allegedly struck a pedestrian who was walking north in the travel lane and fled the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and later died from injuries caused by the crash.

Troopers later located Gallo on Sunshine Grove Rd. in Hernando County and charged him with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving a Death.

Gallo was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center and is free on a $5,000 bond

The case remains pending.
