Patrolling On The Weeki Wachee

Around 7 to 12 nautical meandering miles long, discharging around 150,000,000 gallons of crystal clear 72 degree water a day, Weeki Wachee River attracts tourists from all over the United States and internationally. 

That high volume of people comes with a downside; drugs, alcohol, and litter. 
That’s where Corporal Steven Kelly and Deputy Chris Downey of Hernando County Sheriff's Patrol come in.

K-9 injured during assault arrest at Spring Hill Park

Argo, a member of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, was injured while assisting in the investigation into an alleged assault at Delta Woods Park in Spring Hill this past weekend.

According to Michael Terry, deputy public information officer (PIO) for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), around 6 p.m. on Aug. 15, deputies responded to a call reporting an assault.

Louisiana man pleads guilty to sex with Spring Hill teen

A Louisiana man will spend 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to having sexual relations with a minor. The guilty plea stems from the September 2020 arrest of Johnathan Rossmoine on multiple charges including Lewd and Lascivious Behavior with a victim between the ages of 12 and 16, Obscene Communication, Travel to Meet After Use of a Computer to Lure a Child.

Couple charged in retail theft spree

A couple is facing multiple charges after they were arrested for stealing fireworks and a hand tool from area businesses.

Hernando County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) Deputy Public Information Officer (PIO) Michael Terry said that the series of thefts began on June 27 when Joseph Blahous, 26, and 30-year-old Nicole Cawthron were allegedly observed stealing a drill from Rural King, 2468 Commercial Way, in Spring Hill.
