Inmate Resuscitated at the Hernando County Detention Center

On 02-12-19 at approximately 8 p.m., an inmate at the Hernando County Detention Center experienced a medical emergency.

Detention deputies were alerted by another inmate that an inmate, who was previously walking around, talking, and acting normal, had just become unresponsive. Detention deputies immediately radioed medical staff and responded to the cell where the inmate was located.

Vice and Narcotics Search Warrant – 5073 Landover Boulevard

On 02-13-19 just after 9:30 a.m., detectives from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 5073 Landover Boulevard in Spring Hill.

An investigation revealed that the resident, James Slocum, was involved in cultivating marijuana.

During the search of the residence, detectives located the following:

 25 marijuana plants in various stages of growth

 13.041 pounds of harvested marijuana

 2 firearms

 Multiple items of paraphernalia.

Deputies Make Arrest in Scheme to Defraud Case

On 02-10-19 at approximately 4 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to the Walmart located at 1485 Commercial Way in Spring Hill after loss prevention officers contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Upon arrival, deputies met with loss prevention officers (LP) who advised that two males were currently in the store, selecting high-dollar items in an effort to commit a scheme to defraud Walmart.

Habitual Retail Theft Suspect Targeted Walmart Stores More Than 20 Times in November

A Spring Hill woman with a history of retail theft convictions was recently arrested by Hernando County Sheriff's deputies for committing more than 20 retail/petit thefts at two Hernando County Walmart stores during the month of November.

Michele Lindsay Bowen, W/F DOB/05-04-1980, was first arrested in Hernando County on 11-27-18 on two counts of Retail Theft, which is a felony due to her prior convictions.

Bowen was stopped by loss prevention officers while shopping at the Walmart located at 13300 Cortez Blvd., in Brooksville.
