Whether it's hives, a broken bone, a sore throat or a laundry list of other conditions that needs quick attention without a trip to the ER, an urgent care center is a good option.
On Feb. 25, 2020 Bayfront Health gave area residents a sneak peak of their new urgent care facility which will be open for business on March 2. The facility, located at 2703 Forest Road in Spring Hill, is deceptively large. I say that because it has a normal sized storefront within the shopping center, but once you're inside, the space just keeps going. When you get past the waiting room, there are several patient exam rooms, a large x-ray room and an open nurses station, set up like a hospital.
The urgent care is strategically located to serve the residents of Timber Pines and nearby communities.
If you copy the address into Google Maps, be very careful because it may try to take you to a house on Forest Wood Ct off of Countyline Road. That is not going to work.
Once I managed to get the correct location into Google navigation, it wanted to take me behind the shopping center. That also will not work. Luckily I spotted a red urgent care sign on the marquee in front of the shopping center along US19 and was able to make the ribbon cutting ceremony on time.
The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Bayfront Health Urgent Care took place during the open house event on Feb. 25, 2020.
Ken Wicker, Bayfront Health- Brooksville CEO explained that two of their ER doctors will be staffing the urgent care: Dr. Roderick Bennett and Dr. Onier Villarreal Alejandro.
"We started this back in 2018. It's just been a journey," he said.
