Property owners in Brooksville will see their fire assessment rates increase after the City Council voted to approve a resolution raising funding for fire protection services and facilities. The panel voted to approve the resolution during its Aug.16 meeting.

Currently, the fire assessment rate for a residential property is $164.5957.

The FY 2021-2022 rates for the Fire Protection Assessments for a residential single-unit dwelling is $169.5336.

“That’s a 3 percent increase to the fire assessments,” Peter Napoli, Senior Consultant with Stantec Financial Services, told Council members. “That results in a $5 increase to residential property annually, and achieves about $30,000 more in fire assessment revenue to support your fire department.”
For Fiscal Year 2021-22, the Fire Protection Assessed Cost (total revenue) will be approximately $1,023,101.

The Council approved the resolution by a vote of 4-1. Councilmember Betty Erhard cast the lone dissenting vote.
