On 07-07-2020 at 11:41 p.m., a Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy made contact with two individuals who were walking in the roadway.

Upon speaking to the individuals, a man and a woman, the deputy noted neither person was carrying identification.

The deputy proceeded to check the information they had provided to him verbally via his computer.

As another deputy pulled up the man, later identified as Gary Drady DOB/08-11-1986, ran toward a nearby pond. Drady proceeded to jump into the pond and swim north toward Omaha Circle. However, Drady quickly changed course after seeing law enforcement waiting for him on Omaha Circle.

Drady continued to swim around the pond in an attempt to elude law enforcement.

During this time deputies were able to positively identify Drady as the suspect swimming in the pond. Drady is currently on felony probation.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office Air Unit and the HCSO Marine Unit were called in to assist in the search for Drady. Deputies were unable to locate Drady.

A few hours later deputies responded to a residence on Greenbrier Court where Drady, who was still wet, was taken into custody. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of hypothermia and then transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.

Drady was arrested on charges of Providing a False Name to Law Enforcement and Resisting an Officer without Violence. His bond was set at $3,000
