During the Saturday morning Shabbat Service on November 14, 2020, Temple Beth David in Spring Hill, honored the Jewish War Veterans with a gathering of temple members and guests outside in front of the temple building. Invited guests Commander Larry Jasper from JWV Post 373 in Tampa, his wife Georgi and Bruce and Phyllis Shur were present.  Commander Jasper noted that the JWV is the oldest organization in our country and he emphasized the important role Jews have held in every war.

During the service, Reb Tuviah mentioned by name the veterans from TBD, their families, and friends that are still with us.  He also named our veterans, families, and friends that are no longer with us who sacrificed their lives for our country.

Hernando County chartered the Jewish War Veterans Post 997 in August 1999.  The Post became inactive due to the declining membership. Commander Jasper indicated that he would like to revive the JWV in Hernando County.  If you are interested he can be reached at 813-404-5616 or [email protected]  The JWV web site is www.JWV-FL.org

It was a very moving and spiritual service with the addition of several patriotic songs.
