BKV to receive $69K in funding from CARES Act

At the regular Board of County Commissioners Meeting (BOCC) on May 26th, Airport Director Kevin Daugherty reported that the Brooksville - Tampa Bay Regional Airport (BKV) will be awarded $69,000 in special assistance by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act).  Under this provision, these funds are to assist in operational expenses such as payroll, utility bills, payment of debt service or any other allowable expenditures within the Airport's Enterprise Fund.  
 

With Tropical Storm Cristobal expect coastal flooding and heavy rainfall

As Tropical Storm Cristobal drifts slowly northward through the Gulf of Mexico at the end of the week, a southerly wind flow over the Florida peninsula will create the potential for coastal flooding and a prolonged wet pattern through at least Monday. Areas from Hernando Beach northward could see water levels rise 2 to 4 feet above ground level. Combined with heavy rains at high tide, this may lead to slow drainage and coastal road flooding.

Property Assessed Clean Energy loan program discontinued

The BOCC voted 3-2 at the regular meeting on May 26, 2020 to discontine the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) loan program in Hernando County.

The program came under fire recently and was featured on WFLA Channel 8’s “8 on your Side,” with two segments shown during the meeting.   Commissioner Jeff Holcomb opened the discussion by describing problematic aspects of the program.
