Hernando Beach Coast Guard Auxiliary Mural Dedication

A new mural adorns the north side of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building on Hernando Beach.  On a beautiful Saturday morning, members of United Community Hernando Beach and several dignitaries came to dedicate the artistry of Diane Liptak and Steve Krou.  Krou and Liptak are also known for other murals in the area, including the doors of Fire Station 6 on Hernando Beach.

First Post-Pandemic Live Performance a Huge Success at Timber Pines

On May 5, 2021, the Timber Pines community Snowbird Club and New York State Club joined forces to put on a spectacular evening of magic and music for their members. This was the first live group indoor event since the beginning of the Pandemic, which is not something to be taken lightly. After over a year of the Timber Pines Performance Center being closed due to COVID-19, this evening of entertainment, song and laughter was extremely welcome and long awaited. 

Commissioner John Allocco Addresses Glen Lakes Veterans and Friends

On Thursday, May 6, County Commissioner John Allocco addressed a large group of supporters of the Glen Lakes Veterans and Friends (GLV). This organization raises money to help various veterans’ posts from the tri-county area (Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus counties). These posts include American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Disabled Veterans (DAV). 

Lonnie Colburn park ground lease terminated

On June 14, 2011, Hernando County entered into a ground lease agreement with the Hernando County Fair Association for Lonnie Coburn Park.  At the Board Of County Commissioners (BOCC) regular meeting on May 11, 2021, Deputy County Administrator Tobey Phillips brought to the board the county’s decision to terminate the Fair Association's tenancy of the Park as of July 1, 2021.  

Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory Annual Spring Festival

Live musical entertainment, a dramatic Whoville experience, games, food, and more will be offered at the Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory Annual Spring Festival, to be celebrated May 22, from noon to 5:30 p.m., at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville. And vendors are being sought to offer their wares at this vibrant springtime festival.
