Find your favorite fishing spot

Florida is praised as one of the fishing capitals of the world. Here in Hernando County we have our own incredible fishing spots readily available. Jenkins Creek and Linda Pedersen Park are two scenic locations in Hernando Beach with fishing piers, trails, there's even playgrounds, pavilions, and picnic centers. Many places for you to catch some fish or set up some chairs and hangout for a while.

Organization Brings Joy and Other Essentials to the Homeless

Nature Coast Community Services Foundation (NCCSF) is a nonprofit organization that cares for and assists the homeless population across Hernando County. The organization travels to those in need, wherever they reside. This is run by Ellen Paul and a small group of kind people, whose passion is to uplift their community and help whenever and wherever they're needed.

Mack Meyers is on her way to Florida Gateway College

Spring sports are in full bloom this time of year and amidst the exciting games and rivalries, some amazing opportunities are popping up as well. In fact on March 24, volleyball player Mackenzie Meyers from Hernando Christian Academy signed her letter of intent to Florida Gateway College in Lake City.  The Hernando Christian lion has worked hard to get where she is, she trains about 4 out of 7 days of the week and she's been playing for about 5 years now. She also has team practice two days of the week and does weight training and cardio two other days.

Florida Gulf Coast Clusters- the thrill of competition and beautiful dogs

Dog shows offer fun for all ages. They combine amazing and beautiful dogs with the thrill of competition. I attended a day of Hernando’s American Kennel Club (AKC) Dog Show at the Florida Gulf Coast Clusters and got to see first hand the excitement it can bring. The two week long event is packed full of fun, memories, camping, competing, good people, and more. The Florida Gulf Coast Clusters Dog Show took place over the course of two weeks, January 14-18 and 20-24, 2021 at Florida Classic Park in Brooksville.

“8 Can Chicken Soup” for a Cause

Sisters Katie (age 13) and twins Madie and Jocie (age 9) gave thanks to their community in a big way this year. For Thanksgiving they wanted to help out other kids, so they started a project to build packages of “8 Can Chicken Soup” to give to families in need. The package includes all of the ingredients with a printed out recipe which makes an easy and nutritious dinner for 6-8 people in less than 20 minutes. Grandmother of Katie, Madie and Jocie, Trish Kunath generously supplied us with the recipe as well!
