Hernando makes long awaited trip to states

BROOKSVILLE- The long awaited trip to the state softball tournament is finally on the horizon. 
After sporting one of the best softball teams in school history in recent memory, the Leopards will be making their first ever appearance in the state tournament when they travel to Dodgertown in Vero Beach, FL. Hernando will face Coral Springs Charter at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday May 23, 2019. 

Playoffs start in softball this week for Hernando High Softball

The postseason for prep softball begins this week and only one team from Hernando County qualifies for the playoffs: the Hernando Leopards. The Leopards won’t be in a usual spot to begin the postseason, as Hernando begins the Class 5A playoffs on the road to face Orlando Bishop Moore.

PHSC Lady Bobcats advance to NJCAA DII District F Championship

NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) D II District F championship held at Springwood Park in Burlington, NC is a double-elimination tournament and runs May 9-11.  Nine teams are competing in the tournament and PHSC will enter as the third seed. Who they will be playing against is unknown at this time.

Wednesday March 13, 2019 at Nature Coast High School, it’s a clear nice cool night for girls softball. Players are introduced and team stats provided. Springstead Eagles have five wins and two losses, while Nature Coast has four wins and three losses. Both teams stand on the field for the National Anthem, some players swaying side to side in anticipation of the game. End of the Anthem you can hear cheers echo in the cool night. Let’s play ball.

Hernando Youth League Ponytails will represent Florida at World Series

The Hernando Youth League Girls Softball Ponytails (under 13) are headed to the World Series representing Florida. The 2018 Dixie Softball World Series is being held in Alexandria, Louisiana from July 27 through August 1, 2018.

In the State Finals they defeated the home team Lake Placid. They played Lake Placid twice at State winning both times. In fact they are undefeated so far at both the district and state tournaments.

Hernando County 2018 prep softball wrap up

With Hernando’s 3-2 loss to Keystone Heights in the Class 5A, Region 2 final, prep softball in Hernando County concludes and caps one of the best seasons the county has seen in quite some time. Hernando was once again a force and was able to notch a district championship and a couple postseason victories in the process. Springstead wasn't too far behind, but fell in the region semifinals in Class 6A against district rival Crystal River.
