A Festival of Good Fortune

According to Chinese legend, in an age before calendars marked the passage of time, there once lived a ferocious monster by the name of Nian. This was the beast that villagers feared during the long, moonless nights of winter.

Nian lived deep in the ocean and would appear on New Year’s Eve to devour the villagers, their children and livestock.

HERNANDO SUN

The preferred destination for local and beyond boat enthusiasts, Hernando Beach Marina remains focused on adding more new development programs designed to provide a superlative customer service experience.

The marina was voted top choice in Hernando County for the second year in row for boat sales and service on Florida’s Adventure Coast. The marina is a full service marina with its on site canvas shop and the largest selection of new boats on the beach.

Not all Passports are Equal

A passport is a passport. Right? An official document issued by your government certifying the holder's identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries.

For some, a passport is your gateway to the world. For others, it presents a barrier to the freedom they seek, states the Henley Passport Index — the only passport index based on data from the International Air Traffic Association (IATA).

Planes, trains, or automobiles

Living far away from family has its disadvantages, particularly at holiday times.

As we kick off the 2019 winter holiday season this Thanksgiving, more than 55 million people will travel 50 miles or more to be with their family, the AAA travel organization reported.

Estimates so far will make it the second-highest travel volume since the AAA began tracking Thanksgiving travel volume almost 20 years ago.

Stress-free Thanksgiving Feast

Behind every beautiful thanksgiving dinner lies hours and hours of planning, shopping and hard graft in the kitchen. Typically mom or grandma devotes herself to these duties in order to bring her family together for the occasion.

In some families, every member contributes in one way or another but one person (not always mom or grandma) will commit to doing the bulk of the work.

Expecting the Thanksgiving chef to get up at 4 a.m. to stuff the turkey so it cooks in time, is not realistic these days.
