Steve Davey - Local Teacher Courageously Battles Multiple Illnesses

Steve Davey is a seventy-year-old married father of two grown sons – Justin, who has been a firefighter and paramedic and now works in the medical field, and Chris who is in law enforcement. Steve and his wife, Becky also have one grandson and another one on the way. At a time of his life when he should be thinking about enjoying retirement and looking forward to spending quality time with his family, Davey is fighting several life-threatening illnesses. 

City agrees to loan request for low income senior housing project

Brooksville City Planner Steve Gouldman Introduced the request from Housing Trust Group LLC for a $36,500 no-interest loan to build a 4-story, 120 unit affordable housing complex.  The loan would become due in 15 years with no periodic payments. The Brooksville City Council unanimously approved the loan at the November 2, 2020 meeting. 

Brooksville Housing Authority withdraws loan request for Summit Villas redevelopment

On Sept. 21, 2020 Donald Singer, Executive Director of Brooksville Housing Authority (BHA), presented a request to Brooksville’s city council for a $340,000 low-interest loan from the City for the redevelopment of the Summit Villas public housing project. Located at the corner of Hale Ave and Dr. MLK Jr Blvd, the property has been vacant since 2012 and does not meet current building codes, Singer said.


Master plan revision and rezoning approved for motorsports complex and event venue

The Board of County Commissioners voted 5-0 at the November 17, 2020 meeting to approve a Master Plan revision and rezoning petition by AXI VIO Holdings.  Planning and Zoning recommended 5-0 to rezone the current agricultural (AG) property to Planned Development Project - Highway Commercial (PDP - HC ).  The property is located on the north side of Ayers Road, 975 feet east of Highway 41, and parcels also exist north of Old Ayers Road.
