A Lifetime of Art

Hernando county is home to an abundance of talent that never ceases to amaze. 

Desiree Kantrim, 92, is a relatively new resident of Brooksville who has brought a life's worth of artwork with her. She relocated here from Jacksonville where she was very active in the local art scene, being part of multiple groups to celebrate and work with hometown artists.

For the next couple of weeks, student-athletes will be focused on the upcoming fall sports preseason events. For Hernando High’s head Coach Earl Garcia moving into his second season with the Leopards, it’s about keeping things simple. 

“We haven’t changed the way we implement plays,” Garcia said. “It’s blocking, tackling, and some kicking, so we try to make the complex simple, not the other way around.”

Help wanted: Someone to run a major enterprise where the sky is the limit.

That might be the way county officials write the ad to be run this month when they start looking for the right person to manage the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport and Technology Center. Why the long name? Because local residents are hoping the 2,400-acre complex can handle a lot of jobs aimed at one simple goal: Bringing progress to Hernando County.
