Commissioner Champion asks county to go on record supporting 2nd amendment

During final comments at the regular meeting on September 10, Commissioner Steve Champion requested the board send a letter in unity to Governor Ron DeSantis stating Hernando County supports the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution; the right to bear arms. 

Champion said, “We have no say over this, but I think we need to put it on record on what’s happening in our legislation with the state, and with the country regarding our second amendment rights.  Like it or not, (our rights) are under attack.”

Dignitaries and community members gather to remember Sept. 11 terrorist attacks

SPRING HILL- It does not take a large crowd of people in Hernando County to find someone who was deeply affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001. We have residents who worked in the buildings, others who lost relatives and friends. Many of our residents are from the New York area and still have family and friends living there.

Sept. 10, 2019- At the end of every Board of County Commissioners meeting, each commissioner is given an opportunity to comment on a topic they choose.  At the end of the BOCC meeting on September 10, 2019,  two commissioners gave their thoughts on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Hernando Christian Academy officially starts their 6-man football season

On Thursday night Sept. 5, Hernando Christian Academy held their first 6-man football game against Newberry Christian Community, and it was a glorious win for the Lions; 43-12.

There was an uncertainty of how the team would perform due to practice cancellations, but Coach Raley was pleasantly surprised by the team’s ability to pull it off.
