HCA Volleyball still hungry for victory

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. --- The aspirations of visitors to elude Hernando Christian Academy of a victory-is a flirtation with disaster.  That's been true for most of HCA's season so far.  Heading into the game against Seven Rivers on Thursday Aug. 29, 2019 after beating Meadowbrook on Tuesday (3-1) their record was 4 and 0.  For Seven Rivers though, disaster did not strike in the Lions' Den.

Hurst along with Springstead’s Jake Miller and Hernando’s Pierson Miller teed off on hole 3, followed by Nick Lucus (Weeki Wachee), Ben Keister (Springstead) and Zak Thomson (Hernando).

Week 3 Hernando County Prep Football Previews & Performers

The regular season for prep football in Hernando County heads into Week 3 action and Week 2 brought upon some surprises. Nature Coast was shut out by South Sumter 33-0 and Central is off to a 2-0 start. All five of Hernando County’s squads will be back in action this week and teams will be 30 percent through the season after this Friday. We take a closer look at all of the Week 3 regular season matchups on tap for Friday night.

Central’s Contae Cason leading Bears back to relevance

BROOKSVILLE- It seems like year after year, someone from Hernando County ends up leading the area in rushing. From the likes of DuJuan Harris to Matt Brieda to DeShawn Smith to Tevin Drake and last year’s Mike Weston, there has been no shortage of great running backs to come out of the county. 

Man and woman shot at Kennedy Park in Brooksville

On Sept. 2, 2019 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Kennedy Park parking lot, at the end of Kennedy Boulevard in Brooksville, regarding a Shooting.  Kennedy Park is located at 899 Kennedy Boulevard, just south of East Jefferson Street.

Operators in the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center received several calls regarding the incident, callers stated that multiple persons had been shot.

EOC Alert #8 - Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian is now an extremely dangerous Category 5 storm, currently moving west through the Bahamas with sustained winds of 185 mph. There is still uncertainty in the exact location of the expected northward turn, but the forecast brings the center slightly closer to the east coast of Florida. Portions of the east coast of Florida are now under a hurricane watch.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla.--- Ouch!

There were some very dark ominous clouds gathering together over toward the eastern horizon Friday night but for Nature Coast Tech High School, the storm arrived early inside the Shark Tank and it left behind a wake of destruction.

South Sumter High School football team buses arrived at the gate, the door opened and the Raiders took the field with a swag and they knew that had some serious business to take care of on this night.
