The City Council of the City of Brooksville will hold a Public Hearing in the Joseph E. Johnston, III, City Hall Council Chambers, 201 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, Florida. Second and Final Reading of Ordinance No. 986, originally scheduled for August 5, 2024, HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR August 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Joseph E. Johnston, III, City Hall Council Chambers, 201 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, Florida. The Ordinance may be obtained in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 201 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601, or by calling the City Clerk at 352-540-3816.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BROOKSVILLE, FLORlDA, MAKING A DECLARATION OF A FINDING OF CERTAIN CONDITIONS TO EXIST THAT IF NOT ADDRESSED WILL RESULT IN THE CITY OF BROOKSVILLE EXCEEDING ITS PERMITTED DISCHARGE OF WASTEWATER AS ISSUED BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND EXPOSING THE CITY TO FINES FOR SUCH ACTION AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH HARM; FINDING IT IS NECESSARY IN THE INTEREST OF’ THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY OR WELFARE OF THE CITY RESIDENTS THAT THE CURRENT PERMITTING POLICIES BE CHANGED TEMPORARILY TO REGULATE THE PROVISION OF NEW WASTEWATER CONNECTIONS BOTH INSIDE THE CITY AND FOR THOSE OUTSIDE THE CITY IN THE FIRST RIGHT TO SERVE AREA; AND DECLARING A LIMITED BUILDING WASTEWATER PERMIT MORATORIUM BY THE CITY COUNCIL TO REDUCE THE POTENTIAL OF A TOTAL WASTEWATER MORATORIUM FOR NEW CONNECTIONS BEING IMPOSED; AND PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, NON-CODIFICATION, AND EFFECTIVE AND ENDING DATES.

Any person desiring to appeal any decision with respect to any matter considered at this meeting may need a record of the proceedings including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based, and, therefore, must make arrangements for a court reporter to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made.
