(Spring Hill, FL) at 4:15pm Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was dispatched for a reported residential fire at 2448 Dothan Ave. Initial information was that a vacant home was on fire. Fire reported by a neighbor checking her mail and saw smoke coming from breaking windows.
HCFR arrived to the scene within five minutes of alarm and reported black smoke coming from a window. Fire crews made an offensive attack to locate the fire and verify that no one was in the structure. The fire was located in a bedroom and possibly from a mattress. No persons were found to be in the structure at the time of the fire. The fire was knocked down, and kept to the room of origin. The home still sustained heavy smoke damage to other areas in the home. There are no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
Being that there was no one home at the time of the fire, The Florida Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations has been called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
HCFR has 3 Engines, 2 Rescues, 2 Battalion Chiefs and 1 Chief Officer on scene for a total of 16 personnel. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is providing assistance with traffic control with the Hernando Sheriff Traffic Aides.
