Stage West Community Playhouse officially kicks off their 2017-2018 theatre season this week with The 39 Steps, a funny and thrilling four person play. This season looks like it will be even more remarkable than last season, which is tough to beat! It includes Young Frankenstein; Baggage, 9 to 5: The Musical; The Diary of Anne Frank, Rock of Ages, I’ll Be Back Before Midnight, and Calendar Girls.
For months you have been reading articles I’ve written about different plays in the community, but what is it really like to be part of the cast? Well recently I was given the opportunity to audition for Fiddler on the Roof and even though I don’t have the best singing voice, I was awarded a part of the chorus. It’s been 16 years since I’ve been on stage and even though some things have changed, mainly technology, most has stayed the same. Being a part of community theatre is demanding, and you don’t get paid, but it is an amazing experience. It’s exhausting, nerve-wracking and fun.
