Spring Hill Christian Academy (SHCA) Tuesday night October 2, 2018 held their third annual Pink Out Night filled with volleyball games against Grace Christian School. Students wanted to bring awareness to not only breast cancer but all cancers. Pink Out Night instills students with a sense of generosity and philanthropy. SHCA Athletic Director and Coach Elsie Morales said they look within the school, then the church and if they are blessed they would find a family within the community that needs help.

Iron Bear Challenge

One of the most anticipated events for Central High School’s Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) is hosting the annual Iron Bear Challenge.  The athletic competition features physical tests of strength, endurance, speed and balance. On Sept. 29, seventeen NJROTC programs traveled to Central High School from around the region for a chance at taking home the traveling Iron Bear trophy, which went to Gulf High School last year.

“It's considered a fun day,” said CDR (Ret) Simon Maple USCG.

Water, water everywhere

Bystre Lake overflows once again, flooding the pastures along Mondon Hill Rd, closing side street WPA. Typically, by the time the floodwaters of Bystre Lake reach WPA Rd, residents are already dealing with the flooding of their driveways, yards and homes. Flood waters are now creeping closer to Mondon Hill Rd.

Birds are the only ones enjoying the extra water as it provides them with more places to hunt for food.

Flood waters are already halfway up trees, and with more rain coming it will only get deeper.
