Property or Facility

BY THE HERNANDO COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, FLORIDA, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to Ordinance No. 31-01 of the Hernando County Ordinances, comments, objections, and recommendations regarding the County’s intent to name the County Property after Dennis H. Wilfong.

Dennis H. Wilfong was a local businessman and humanitarian who was born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 19, 1947. He peacefully passed away on August 26, 2021, at the age of 74. Dennis Wilfong founded Innovative Technology, Inc., a world class manufacturing firm headquartered in Hernando County that manufactured specialized electronics. The company grew into a multi-million dollar company providing products across the Unites States and 38 countries before being sold in 1997. Dennis Wilfong has conducted countless seminars for entities such as NASA, the Pentagon, Federal Aviation Administration, Los Alamos, and numerous utilities as well as Fortune 500 companies, including Ford Motor Company, General Dynamics, Frito Lay, Federal Express and many more. Dennis Wilfong has received much recognition for his efforts, including articles published in SUCCESS Magazine and Florida Trend. In 1996, he received the Environmental Safety Award and was inducted into the Investors International Hall of Fame. He also received the 1996 Business of the Year Award from the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce. Dennis Wilfong has chaired the Business Development section of the Hernando County Summit in addition to serving as an Ambassador of Commerce and Employment for the City of Brooksville, all while dedicating a great deal of his time assisting with the development of businesses in various areas. Dennis shared in the vision to create opportunities for local residents to gain skills in key industries areas and helped develop the project now known as the Citizens Center for Success.

The location of the property is a tract or parcel of land in the Southwest quarter of Section 18, Township 23 South, Range 19 East Hernando County, Florida.

At this time, the Board will receive public comment on the proposed Intent to name County property mailed to Hernando County Administration 15470 Flight Path Drive, Brooksville, FL 34604, until November 2, 2021.

The public hearing will be held at the John Law Ayers room located on the first floor of the Government Center, located at 20 North Main Street in Brooksville, FL on November 16, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard.

Pursuant to § 286.0105, Florida Statutes, if a person decides to appeal any decision of the Board of County Commissioners on any matter considered at the public hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings. For such purpose, a person appealing the decision may need to ensure the creation of a verbatim record, which captures the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.
