    NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING, WORKSHOPS AND
    PUBLIC HEARING

    HERNANDO COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD

    RULE TITLE: Attendance Boundaries for several schools in Hernando County.

    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This action implements the School Board’s power to assign students to schools and adopt school attendance areas as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the District school system. Changes are being considered based in part upon school capacity and the efficient utilization of district resources.

    SUMMARY OF RULE: Recommending changes to student attendance boundaries for students’ enrolled in Winding Waters K-8 to be effective July 1, 2023. Recommendations may impact the attendance boundaries of Winding Waters K-8, Pine Grove Elementary Spring Hill Elementary, Deltona Elementary, Westside Elementary, West Hernando Middle School and Fox Chapel Middle School.

    SPECIFIC AUTHORITY: Sections 1001.32(2) and (3); 1001.41(1); 1001.41(2); 1001.41(6); 1001.42(4) and (28); 1001.51 Florida Statutes. Hernando County School Board Policy 5120.

    LAW IMPLEMENTED: Sections, 1001.41; 1001.42. Florida Statutes.

    THE FOLLOWING IS THE SCHEDULE OF SCHOOL BOARD WORKSHOPS, PUBLIC WORKSHOPS, SCHOOL BOARD PUBLIC HEARING, AND TENTATIVE FINAL ACTION REGARDING THIS RULE DEVELOPMENT.

    First Public Workshop:
    Consultants and school district staff will be available to address the proposals and to respond to questions and or comments regarding the rule being developed.
