On Saturday May 5, 2018 the popular Little Lady Cafe in downtown Brooksville suffered an electrical fire which began behind a cooler after closing time.  The fire did serious damage and owner Rory Steele will need to rebuild.

Steele has been operating the restaurant for over two years now.

On social media, Steele thanked the numerous community members who have reached out to her and remarked, “…the cafe has severe damage and we will need sometime to rebuild, but we will rebuild. Right now my head is just spinning and my heart is in awe. Brooksville is an amazingly strong and supportive community, I am beyond blessed to be a part of this and call it home. I haven’t yet the chance to answer or reply to everyone, but I am not ignoring anyone either, again just wrapping my head around it all. Again, thank you to each and everyone of you. Little Lady Cafe will rebuild, we are Brooksville strong.”

She also thanked the first responders,  “Thank you to all the first responders who answered the call and fearlessly entered the building, not knowing what was inside. Your bravery, strength, professionalism is greatly appreciated.”

A local business has started a fundraiser for Little Lady Cafe:

Stillwater Creative Works stated, “When you live in a small town and tragedy strikes, in an instant the entire town is ready to help.

We started thinking how we could help right now. So, we started designing and brainstorming and came up with this design for a custom etched tumbler. This is just a prototype, as the final cup will be red in color. We will also be releasing Little Lady Cafe vinyl stickers… All profits from these Little Lady Cafe tumblers and vinyl stickers will go directly to owner Rory Steele and the staff of the Little Lady Cafe. Tumblers will be a 16oz. high quality RTIC brand for $25.00, and the vinyl stickers will be $5.00. (Plus shipping if applicable) If you are interested in ordering please comment below, or email us directly at: [email protected].”

The GoFundMe page for the Little Lady Cafe rebuild project has raised $1,850 of their $10,000 goal as of May 8, 2018.
