Gladys Chalker

Bebe Campbell of Tampa, sent us a photo of her mother Gladys Chalker who graduated from Hernando High School in 1912.  She married Charles Parker and is the mother of Ann Parker Emerson and Bebe Parker Campbell. We found that Gladys Chalker may have been a teacher at Centralia, which was a short-lived logging town located near present day Centralia Rd (476) and US 19.  The Hernando Historical Preservation Society notes from a 1962 St. Petersburg Times article describing some of the aspects of Centralia life: “Catholics and Protestants worshiped in the same building; it served also as an entertainment hall. Misses Jennie Gozier and Gladys Chalker taught their kids their three R’s.”
