District tournaments of the regular season for prep boys basketball in the state of Florida are right around the corner. We now take a look at the Hernando Sun Top 5 Prep Boys Basketball Poll heading into the final week of the regular season.

No. 1 Nature Coast (17-5, 10-1): This Sharks’ team has been typical of past years, as they’ve for the most part breezed through the regular season and seem well on their way to winning another district championship. Nature Coast’s regular season still has four games remaining, as they will face Springstead, Lecanto, Fivay and Hudson to wrap things up.

No. 2 Springstead (10-8, 2-4): The Torain brothers of Unique and Sincere have been a tandem all season long for the Eagles. Unique is averaging a team-high 18.0 points per game while his brother Sincere is scoring 17.3 ppg. The Eagles have a tough stretch before district play opens up, which includes a matchup against Nature Coast.

No. 3 Central (8-9, 4-2): Winners of four out of their last five games, the Bears have been putting together a nice stretch to close out the 2018-2019 regular season. A 34-32 win over No. 1 ranked Nature Coast was a notch in the belt for a Central club aiming to end the season above the .500 mark.

No. 4 Hernando (9-11, 5-4): A tough 2-5 slide heading into the tail end of the regular season has Hernando just below the .500 mark and trying to right the ship before districts. The Leopards defeated a winless Weeki Wachee team to get back into the win column but have a lot of work to do if they aim to compete in the Class 6A, District 7 tournament.

No. 5 Weeki Wachee (0-19, 0-10): With no wins on the season, the entire 2018-2019 campaign has been a very tough stretch for the Hornets. Weeki Wachee has had a couple close calls, but no cigar on picking up a victory. They’ll have four more cracks at it before the Class 6A, District 7 tournament begins.
