Sheriff and Charter Schools Collaborate to Provide Full-Time SROs

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, working in collaboration with each of the three charter schools in Hernando County, has facilitated the implementation of one full-time, permanent School Resource Deputy on each campus, beginning today 3/15/19.

As a reminder, Sheriff Al Nienhuis, the Hernando County School District, and the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners worked closely in early 2018 to place a full-time School Resource Deputy on every public school campus, even before the initiative was mandated.

The charter schools are as follows:

 BEST Academy School Street/Brooksville

 Gulf Coast Academy of Science and Technology Tillery Road/Spring Hill

 Gulf Coast Middle School Deborah Drive/Spring Hill.
