Spring Hill Farmers Market

On June 1, 2019, the Spring Hill Farmers Market welcomed local produce and food shoppers at the Towne Square Mall parking lot.  It has the same hours and many of the same vendors as was offered at the Hernando County Farmers Market in the Rural King parking lot, which was recently closed. Two of the organizers of the Hernando County Farmers Market now run the Spring Hill Farmers Market, Tammy Patrick, and Desiree Canora. The market has something for everyone. Some of the vendors include Beasley Farm, Growin’ Crazy Acres, and Sierra Rose Reclaimed Wood Sign Company. The market also has vendors selling quilts, plants, fresh honey, jewelry, hand scrubs, animal products, candles, and many other items. You can check out the market every Saturday all year long from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.

The move from Rural King to Towne Square Mall isn’t the first for farmers market organizers.  They started in Brooksville almost eight years ago and later decided to move to Spring Hill where they would attract more traffic.

“I think we will be busier with the new location. People can see us better from the road, it gives us better exposure,” said Laura Sandquist from the Florida Fresh Meat Company.

The farmers market is all about the community. It gives small businesses the chance to put themselves out there. It helps bring everyone together. Shopping locally helps support the people in your community. It increases business, gives people a chance to show their talent, helps people express themselves, and helps other local businesses by drawing crowds. “The farmers market is an overall great environment for everyone,” remarked Desiree Canora, owner of Growin’ Crazy Acres and market organizer.  “The goal is to make sure everyone is happy,” Canora added.

One of the big vendors that can be found at the farmers market is Beasley Farms. They offer a variety of fruits and veggies all year long depending on the season. They have a $10.00 produce box and u-pick flowers.

Sierra Rose Reclaimed Wood Sign Company is run by Mark Basco.  They make signs out of old barn wood and also take custom orders. “The people that come to the farmers market are some of the kindest and most respectful people I’ve met.  The people down here are truly awesome,” Mark Basco said.

The Florida Fresh Meat Company offers 100% locally raised meat products. “The farmers market gives us the opportunity to present healthier meat to the community,” stated Laura Sandquist. These are just a few of the many vendors that can be found at the Spring Hill Farmers Market.

The farmers market offers a friendly and social environment. Everyone helps everyone.    “I absolutely love being at the farmers market. It becomes a huge part of your life. All the relationships everyone builds, it’s like we’re all a big family, our own little community,” Canora stated. The market has many homemade products, each uniquely different and reflective of the variety of talents present in our community.

Stop in every Saturday from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. all year long at the brand new location 3021 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, Towne Square Mall parking lot. Stop in and see all the talent your community offers, meet a variety of people, build new friendships, have a few laughs, make new memories, support local farmers and craftsmen.
