Hernando County Parks and Recreation along with Pasco Hernando State College head basketball coach Micheal Jones hosted a free basketball camp at Delta Woods Park. Early Saturday morning kids aged seven to seventeen filled the outdoor basketball courts to learn more about the game they love.
The campers who participated in this event performed a variety of basketball skills.
“The camp is just a way to give back to the community,” Jones said. “This gives them a chance to see what I had to follow when I was young.”
Helping out on the courts were Hernando High’s Hall of Fame Marion Jones and Phillip Jones, Calvin Brown, Todd Burkhamer and former PHSC basketball players Chris Copeland and Charles Issacc.
“It’s getting the kids out, having fun, learning about the game- that’s what it’s all about,” Jones said.
