The first item of business at the Dec. 2, 2019 Brooksville City Council meeting was to choose new officers to serve a one year term. Outgoing Mayor Bill Kemerer opened the floor for nominations for his successor. Council member Robert Battista nominated Vice-Mayor Joe Bernardini. Pat Brayton seconded the nomination. There were no other nominees and Bernardini was elected unanimously.
Bernardini and Kemerer switched places on the dais, and Bernardini requested nominations for Vice-Mayor. Battista nominated Brayton, seconded by Kemerer. Brayton was the only nominee and he was elected with a 5-0 vote.
