November 18, 2020 – At the November 17th organizational meeting of the Hernando School Board, Judge Kristie M. Healis was in attendance to swear in newly re-elected school board members, Gus Guadagnino and Linda Prescott, and School Superintendent, John Stratton, whose contract was renewed in September.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, nominations opened for School Board Chair and vice-chair. Linda Prescott was elected as Board Chair and Gus Guadagnino as vice-chair. In a touching tribute to her leadership as Chair for the last 2 years, the Board recognized Susan Duval for her integrity, dedication and willingness to make difficult decisions.
“It has been an honor to serve alongside you. There is no person more committed to our school district. It shows in everything you do. I could not have had a better partner,” Superintendent John Stratton said.
In her final comments as Board Chair, Susan Duval said, “It’s amazing what can follow along when you enjoy what you’re doing. It becomes part of who you are and that’s where I am. The school district and I have been friends for a long time.”
